About Me

Bio

I am a singer songwriter, producer, and educator from Westchester, NY. Whether composing a catchy jingle for a business, producing a custom type-beat for an artist, or collaborating as a co-writer, producer, or audio engineer, I'm eager to help others bring their musical visions to life. Listen to my most recent song below!

My Story

After discovering the music of the Beatles in high school, I began writing, recording, and producing my own songs. While my musical interests shifted from rock to classical to jazz and finally to pop music over the years, I never stopped writing music and after releasing several singles, I released my first album "Softspoken Boy" under the name "Jon Flowers" this year.

Education

I received my Bachelor of Music degree

from Five Towns College in 2020 where I studied

Music Teacher Education. I returned to

college in 2024 after three years of teaching general

music in public schools to pursue a Master of

Music degree in Studio Composition from Purchase College.

What I'm doing now...

I'm currently a substitute teacher, freelance piano teacher, and the music director at Congregation of the Messiah church in Tuckahoe, NY.

Commonly Asked Questions

1. What is your studio setup like? My studio setup includes Yamaha HS5 speakers, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, an AT2020 mic, and a Macbook Pro running Logic Pro X.

2. What qualifications do you have? In 2020, I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in piano/voice from Five Towns College in 2020 and I am currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Studio Composition at SUNY Purchase College. As an artist, I independently wrote, produced, and mixed a 10-track album as well as 6 singles and co-wrote and produced for other artists including Stihl Chris and Trex. As a freelance composer, I wrote an alma mater for Stony Point Elementary School, a theme song for Congregation of the Messiah church, and a jingle for Always An Angel Homecare. I've also created video game and film music as well as type beats for other artists and creators.

3. What genres of music do you primarily work in? I primarily write and produce pop and alternative music, however, I've also created jingles, video game music, and type beats. Click on "Music" in the menu to hear examples of my work.

4. What are some influences on your music? My influences include The Beatles, Rex Orange County, Clairo, Still Woozy, and Joji.

5. What are your strengths as a songwriter and producer? Some of my strengths as a songwriter and producer include an ability to write memorable melodies, familiarity with all stages of the music creation process, a good rapport with clients, and being able to accurately capture their music visions.

6. What is your songwriting process like and how long does it take? My songwriting process varies from song to song. Most often, I start with a melody. Frequently, I may start with a chord progression or instrumental. Occasionally, I start with a lyric. While writing, producing, recording, and mixing a demo of a song may only take one day, a song will typically go through several stages of revisions at each stage of the process. Changes may need to be made to a lyric, a part may need to be re-recorded, or an entire song may need to be re-worked with a different arrangement. This is all part of the process and I am happy to continue working with a client on their project until we are both satisfied with the result.
